Security Flaw in Cursor AI Code Editor Allows Hidden Code Execution

Cursor AI Code Editor, the artificial intelligence-driven fork of Visual Studio Code, is under fresh examination following the revelation by researchers that it has a vulnerability that can be exploited to execute code silently. Security analysts cautioned that a crippled default protection would expose U.S. developers to covert attacks. Weakness The Workspace Trust is a safety option that is disabled when Cursor AI Code Editor is installed. This makes even basic things such as opening a folder potentially hazardous as far as background activities go.

According to industry experts, the threat has the potential to make attackers hijack developer machines with little effort. Researchers said that attackers could use this vulnerability by making victims visit a rogue site, which allows them to perform remote poisoning.

Some of the other problems comprise SQL injection of the Postgres MCP server, path traversal in the Microsoft NLWeb and authorization vulnerability of Lovable with a CVSS of 9.3.
