Samsung is expanding its audio lineup with the launch of the Galaxy Buds3 FE, a feature-packed pair of wireless earbuds priced at $149.99. Available in matte black or gray, the earbuds will officially release in the U.S. on September 4.The Buds3 FE follows the Galaxy Buds FE, which impressed reviewers with strong audio performance and solid ANC for just under $100. With the new model, Samsung aims to justify the higher price tag by introducing improved noise cancellation, better call clarity, and, most notably, seamless integration with Galaxy AI.
A Step Forward From Galaxy Buds FE
The Galaxy Buds FE received positive reviews on being able to provide high-end sound on a low cost. Critics praised low end, punchy mids, and surprisingly strong ANC to make them better than headphones in the same segment.Naturally, customer reviews complained of poor call quality with many describing voices as low quality or distant. Switching of the device between various Galaxy products was also a lagging process compared to its competitors such as the Apple AirPods. By introducing Buds3 FE, Samsung is narrowly focusing on these deficiencies.
The Galaxy AI has been central in the development of the flagship products of Samsung in 2025, and the Buds3 FE follows through with this approach. By using voice controls capability, a user is able to access Gemini assistant or operate playbacks without having to touch their phone. And most impressive of AI capabilities is real-time translation. Through the Galaxy AI Interpreter app, the earbuds also offer real-time translations when in live verbal communication, which would prove quite useful when traveling or working in a multilingual workplace. Notably, the Galaxy users can access these AI tools until the end of 2025 at no cost, which implies that the buyers would not overcome an upfront subscriptions paywall.
Redesigned for Comfort and Control
The Buds3 FE have a new design that Samsung refers to as an iconic blade design. The new form factor here features intuitive controls with pinch and swipe gestures to control the volume, call and playback. There has also been slight improvement in battery life. Enabling ANC allows the user to get 6 hours of continuous use with ANC, and up to 8.5 without it. With the charging case, listening time will be 24 hours, with ANC, and 30 hours without. The Buds3 FE can then be considered against Apple AirPods 3 that are marketed at about 30 hours of battery life.
Clear phone calls are one of the pain points of the past Galaxy Buds models. The Buds3 FE also seek to address this by fronting what Samsung touts as the Crystal Clear Call technology. Better microphones and AI noise blocking will reduce distractions in the background and make voices clearer. This feature is potential game-changer to remote workers, students or anyone who is dependent on video calls. In case of corresponding performance with the statements by Samsung, the Buds3 FE will be much more trustworthy in hybrid work and online meetings compared to its predecessors.
Sound Quality and Spatial Audio
Buds3 FE has bigger speakers equipped with deeper bass and brighter highs. 360 audio is a Samsung feature enabling it to give the listener a surround sound experience suitable when listening to movies or playing games. Although the audiophile audience can consider they need the better, expensive variant of this device, such as the Galaxy Buds2 Pro, the FE line is meant to balance: it is rather cheap and can produce immersive music under various conditions.
ANC continues to be one of the most popular earbuds features. The Buds3 FE provide more active noise-cancelling than their predecessor FE, assisting in blocking out the hum of a train on the way to work or the din of a restaurant when meeting up with friends. To be safe, Ambient mode allows external noises to infiltrate when necessary say, when one is walking in traffic or is waiting in an airport gate. The ratio between immersion and awareness is to have Buds3 FE multifunctional to suit leisure and travel.
Competition: Can Samsung Beat Apple and Google?
With a price of 149.99, the Galaxy Buds3 FE fall right in the middle of the AirPods 3 (169) and the Pixel Buds Pro (199). On one hand, the AirPods will remain the product of choice of iPhone enthusiasts; meanwhile, Samsung is aiming to make the Buds3 FE the default accessory of Android and Galaxy fans. On the AirPods 3, Samsung makes a better seller with both ANC and AI translation.
The Buds3 FE are more affordable than the Pixel Buds Pro with roughly the same battery life and call quality. The problem, though, is that it is more difficult to persuade consumers not within the Samsung ecosystem. The devices only Galaxy can access some AI features, which restricts their attractiveness to a broader Android community.
