Windows 11’s new generation of artificial intelligence upgrades is being rolled out by Microsoft, targeted at Copilot+ PCs. The improvements will be aimed at facilitating the day-to-day activities, collaboration, and enhancing the productivity of professionals. Major capabilities are highly developed voice dictation to support real-time typing and an AI-based webcam, the latter of which is run by on-board processing. Nevertheless, the introduction of AI recommendations to File Explorer has provoked the concern of interface clutter, which shows the balancing act Microsoft has to maintain between innovation and usability.

As TechRadar reports, its next highlight is an improved dictation tool named Live Captions with Voice Clarity. The feature uses neural processing units (NPUs) on Copilot+ hardware to provide real-time transcription. It is also integrated with noise-suppressing technology, which enhances the quality of calls and recordings even in a difficult environment.
It was observed that the tool has the potential to transform remote work to present professionals with better audio without the latency that comes with cloud-based services. According to TechRadar, the strategy of Microsoft has positioned its ecosystem in direct competition with Apple’s macOS, wherein similar transcription tools are also being worked on. With special emphasis on local AI processing, the company can offer quicker results and minimise the use of cloud connectivity.

Microsoft is also launching on the video side, which it refers to as Studio Effects in webcams. Background blur, lighting filters and fake eye contact are some of the AI-driven filters that can be processed in Windows 11. As TechRadar pointed out, the integration is easily compatible with communication platforms like Microsoft Teams, which may lead to the necessity of minimal additional software.
These improvements are likely to be of special interest to enterprise users.
